About Prairie Baptist Church

signIn 1835 a group of believers banded together to become the Prairie Baptist Church. The church first met in a log cabin chapel and had services when a minister was available. The small struggling band persevered and eventually became a full time church complete with Sunday school, evangelistic outreaches, youth activities, missionary endeavors and many other kinds of ministry.

Sensing a drift away from sound doctrine, the church left the Northern Baptist Convention and affiliated with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches in 1947. As then, the church continues striving to honor and obey God by carefully applying the Bible to all areas of life.

Our passion is a fervent discipleship guided and informed by the Bible. We believe this requires us to adhere to a conservative evangelical theology and a lifestyle emphasizing personal holiness and integrity. Since the Bible is key, we seek to teach the Bible faithfully and relevantly. This is done through many different avenues such as Sunday School for all ages, Biblical preaching, children's and teen's Bible clubs, special conferences and classes, youth camps, to name a few.

Since fellowship and accountability are very important for Christian growth, we seek to maintain a close connectedness among the church family. We believe that all believers are gifted by God for a place of ministry. As each believer finds and fulfills his or her ministry, the body is built up in the faith, grace and fellowship. In our church, all ages, economic strata, marital states are present and welcomed.

Believing that we are called to be lights to a benighted world, we call all believers to a life of evangelism and holiness. The church, as a corporate body, seeks to reach out evangelistically to our local area and around the world through missionary efforts. Rather than compromising with and accommodating a dark world, the church holds firmly to a Biblical style of worship. Our desire is to honor and please the Lord rather than satisfying the current appetites and styles of our culture.

We invite other likeminded believers to join us in our pursuit of pleasing our Lord. Together, in mutual ministry to each other, we hope to win the lost, edify the saints, build up the Kingdom and glorify the Lord.
