Church History

In 1835 a group of believers banded together to become Prairie Baptist Church. The church first met in a log cabin chapel and had services when a minister was available. The small struggling band persevered and eventually became a full time church complete with Sunday school, evangelistic outreaches, youth activities, missionary endeavors and many other kinds of ministry. Sensing a drift away from sound doctrine however, the church left the Northern Baptist Convention and affiliated with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches in 1947, and Prairie continues to be associated with the GARBC.
